Animals give children a sense of stability

Animals give children a sense of stability they form an extremely important part in my series of children's story books, I like to think that as humans we live in a landscape of make-believe, we like to spin and believe in fantasies.

I wrote the series of Susy Bubbles with the concept of engaging children with reading through joyful and brain stimulating adventures and that is why I included animals in my stories take for instance, Ellie-Bob a small Komondor dog with white fur like cascading bubbles. Excitable and hyperactive. Also, clumsy due to mop of fur over her face. Being Susy’s best friend, she assumes she’s top dog in the group and can be very superior, but always gets her comeuppance. My other animal characters include Raffa a male giraffe. Small, but big in personality, Chip a tiger cub. Very curious and a wanderer, Jet a tarantula with a friendly nature and non-scary appearance then there’s Flo a dragon. Extremely timid and shy.

Animals are an extremely important part of any children's books. They allow children to experience things far outside of their daily lives, including some difficult emotions and thoughts. Each of my stories contain animals and insects.

Animals give children a sense of stability and changeableness in a changing, confusing world, both because animals change far less rapidly in time than we do and because they are members of a natural order full of beauty and spirituality. We live in landscapes of make-believe. Animal stories create the strangest and safest worlds, where children can learn the most difficult lessons. My stories are adventurous and fun, they don’t feel like an education. But they are. I like to think that my stories offer a variety of learning aspects encouraging personal development, which begins during the early years of a childhood.

Discover how my stories ingeniously teach a young audience to understand the key life skills such as creating friendships, kindness, encouraging teamwork and developing empathy of the world around them, preparing them for a happy and wonderful adulthood.
